Tonight, I am talking about males and their beards. Are you a bird with a bearded boy in your life? The lads in Dublin have become more metrosexual over the last 5 years or so, their grandfathers are probably turning in their graves. Beards in particular have become extremely popular, so I am going to let you in on a little gem in the heart of Dublin.. The Grooming Rooms.
Now, unless you like your man looking like Robin Williams when he comes out of Jumanji, he should probably be grooming it and keeping it in tip-top shape.
The Grooming Rooms in South William Street is the place to send him to get a proper trim on his beard or moustache. They can get their hair cut here or book in for a manicures and pedicures too but let’s not tip them over the edge just yet. The Grooming Rooms offer a range of male treatments including facials and massages, with no happy ending!
Their place is really nice, the decor is set to look like an old Victorian barbers, I enjoy going in there myself to pick up a voucher or some hair cream. They can be pampered as they sit in the specialist Barbershop chairs with old style sinks.
With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, why not treat him to a beard trim or hair cut? Or if you are sadistic enough, a voucher for his sack, back and crack?! They stock great brands such as Yonka, Dermalogica and American Crew, so it’s a great one stop shop for men. The Grooming Rooms would be a great pre-wedding pamper session for the men before the big day. Good riddance to just a shower, shave and a sh*te!
Here’s a list of items that every bearded man should have:
Dr K Soap Company – Beard Tonic
This tonic is made of natural oils and promotes the healthy growth of the hair and soothes the skin underneath. Plus it smells lovely, thanks to the peppermint, rosemary and lavender. Mmm, his beard will never smell like his lunch again. Just one or two drops are needed to condition the beard which makes it long-lasting too.
Boots – Wide Toothed Comb
Brushing the beard through is also very important, a knotted beard is going to be sore and you know they can’t handle pain. A wide tooth comb is best for working through the beard. You can pick up a comb like this in Boots for €2.39.
Wahl – Groomsman Trimmer
To ensure your man doesn’t look like Tom Hanks in Castaway, check out the Wahl range of trimmers. They can do a quick trim on themselves in between appointments. These are relatively inexpensive and they would also make a great gift for a Groomsman/Best Man. You can check out Boots.ie for these trimmers. You can get this trimmers for €14.99.
Now if he still smells after this or looks like Hagrid… then he’s a lost cause!
