Bridal Beauty: Liz Earle Smoothing Line Serum

A high end skincare range that doesn’t pilfer your purse can be hard to find. Lately, I’ve turned my affections to ole Lizzy Earle after hearing some great things from family and friends. I am on a mission to have my skin perfect for the wedding and I am willing to put my face on the line for all you other brides and skincare enthusiasts alike.

Within my Liz Earle skincare set, I got the Smoothing Line serum too and I was thought “oh, hellllllllllllllllooo!” I’ve started to notice as I creep towards 30, that I’ve all kinds of lines that seem to have cropped up out of nowhere. Either that, or I am just staring in the mirror a little longer, oh the vanity! Now, ideally, I would like this lines to feck off, but it’s probably not going to happen but this little baby certainly reduces the appearance of them.

Enriched with antioxidant grapeseed extract and soothing echinacea, this serum plumps and give elasticity to the skin. It’s oil free too, so it’s great for all us shiny sebum producing creatures. Simply apply at night under your Liz Earle Moisturiser to seal in an extra hydration boost. You can also use it as lightweight alternative to moisturiser for really oily or combination skin.

The serum worked really well on my decolletage and my nasolabial lines. You know those little shit ones that go from your nose to your mouth and in certain light looks like an old Tom Selleck? Yep, those ones. After I’ve cleansed, toned and moisturised, I gently pat this onto my face, paying extra attention to the eye area.

This serum will appeal to brides looking to get their skin in the best shape it possibly can be especially if you are worried about how oily your skin is.

The serum is €22.00 but you only need a small amount and it should last you. Check out http://ie.lizearle.com/smoothing-line-serum.html for some great deals or drop into Boots for a personalised consultation now.

Cheers Lizzie babes!

Pestle & Mortar – Drops of Beauty!

My skin can be bi-polar, it can go from having really oily patches to being dry like the Sahara. Neither are a good look. Dehydration is just one of the ailments us makeup whores have to battle each day, and it can be a tough one. This serum promises to smooth fine lines and return elasticity to skin.

Now, I know drinking tonnes of water every day will help us all with the battle against dehydration, but I tend to be a pissy pants all the live long day when I try to drink the recommended amount, I own the bladder of a small kitten. So, if something can help me with restoring some hydration to the skin and make me look youthful at the same time, then I am downing that shiz!!

I received this serum from Pestle & Mortar and was looking forward to using it. I love the packaging, do you know little ointment droppy things are in? Yep, there’s a sentence I never thought I’d be pompous enough to buy into 😉 But they do make sure you only use the right amount. The packaging reminds me of Jo Malone feel and errrrr’body loves Jo.

Pestle-Mortar-058-layeredI have decided I am going to be much nicer to my skin now and get it in tip-top shape for the wedding and I think this is perfect product to help me get there or for any brides looking to give their skin that boost on the run up to their wedding.

The main ingredients of this serum are: (I am about to sound like Harry Potter on Ketamine!)

  • Sodium Hyaluronate – this can hold more water than any other natural substance and so it helps the skin absorb water more effectively and reduces trans-epidermal water loss.
  • Aloe Barbadensis Gel – aloe soothes, calms and tackles any dry patches.
  • Padina Pavonica Extract – a microscopic alga that’s proven to promote the skin’s youthful appearance.
  • Vitamin E – protects the skin from some UV light and reduces water loss from skin.
  • Acytyl Hexapeptide-8 – synthetically derived peptide with water-binding properties.

I’ve been using two drops in the morning and two again in the evening under my moisturiser. It leaves the skin feeling velvety soft, I forgot it while I was away last week and could see where my skin had gone dry from not using it.

It’ll set you back €42.99 for 30ml but the bottle will last for ages and this has left my skin in great condition and sometimes it’s just time to look after the skin and only certain products will achieve that. This beauty is one of them, my skin looks more awake and radiant! And who doesn’t want to be a radiant bride?

Pestle & Mortar is available on their website: http://www.pestleandmortarcosmetics.com/ and it’s now available in Arnotts too.

Lip Voltage… When your lips are like a Granny’s!

This week I have been trying out Lip Voltage – Mix Up the Voltage. I had heard a lot of good, and some mixed, reviews about this product, so I was looking forward to giving it a go. I used to use the old Too Faced Lip Injection product back in 2005 and I found that one just made me look like I had had a bottle of Ribena. I was also slightly weary that I was going to end up looking like Leslie Ash, post MRSA.

Leslie Ash

Lip Voltage is a non-injectable peptide to give you the look of collagen lip plumper. With this, you can have warm to hot tingle sensation, it’s probably not for the faint hearted. You get a little syringe with the extra serum and add it to the gloss.. Mix it for 20 seconds and leave to rest then for at least 30 seconds, then you can apply and wait for the tingle effect to get you.

Lip Fol

On the the first night, I added 1ml from the syringe and then went for another 0.5ml, I even got my boyfriend to put one layer on, while I put on three. You could see the difference right away in terms of colour while the plump slowly came through. One thing I would say is, be careful when added the gloss to the lips, if you overrun your lips you ended up with what looks like a ‘tash rash from wearing the face off Burt Reynolds.

I got a nice plump lip though and while it does change the colour of your lip, the colour was good. The first photo in the grid is before.

On Saturday, I put one layer on my lower lip and two layers on my upper lip and I barely noticed the tingle. I then outlined my plumper lips with my Make Up Forever Aqua lip pencil, the colour match from the product and the liner was spot on. This gave me a slightly enhanced looking lip, Kylie Jenner ain’t got shiz on me.

One thing I would say is, I find the product wears off quite quickly. You would probably want to reapply throughout the day in order to keep the plumpness. I do like how you can turn up the the level of plump if you think it’s not enough.

I got mine from Dolledup.ie for €30.00, their dispatch was super fast too. It’s a little more expensive than the normal Lip Voltage as you get to crank it the voltage to your own taste.

I would recommend this product if you’d like to see how you look with an enhanced lip, for a bride, for someone who is just plain petrified of surgery or maybe just for a special occasion.
